This week, Laurence with Trinchero Family Estates…

Laurence will be pouring:

2018 Terras Gauda Albadia de San Campio Albariño

100% Albariño

DO Rías Baixas, Spain

On the nose, the 2018 vintage is characterized by its intense, fresh aromas of tropical fruit, with ripe pineapple and banana in the foreground, alongside delicate aromas of white fruit such as apple and pear. These aromas are enhanced by pre-fermentation cold maceration. On the palate it exhibits freshness, power and balance. The fresh and vibrant acidity of an excellent Albariño is wrapped in a great breadth of flavor. It is a bright, very lively, pleasant, velvety wine - the result of a vintage characterized by its good maturation. All in all, a well-balanced and attractive wine. It reveals a great variety of retro-nasal notes of white and tropical fruit, with a powerful and very long finish. Stainless steel fermented.

2017 Cloudfall Sauvignon Blanc

100% Sauvignon Blanc

Monterey County, California

Subtle melon aromas pair alongside the fresh fruit flavors of white peach and passion fruit. Invigorating on the palate, notes of bell pepper and lemongrass provide a crisp mouthfeel and a bright, lingering finish. No malolactic fermentation.

2016 Bravium Pinot Noir

100% Pinot Noir

Anderson Valley, California

A classic coastal Pinot Noir from the far reaches of Mendocino, this elegant wine offers a vivacious and exotic presentation with aromas of strawberry rhubarb, rose petal, raspberry, wild berry, crushed rock, wood smoke and red cherry. A soft entry and plush palate deliver berry patch flavors, balanced by orange peel notes, with a chalky, mineral-driven finish. Bright acidity, fine-grained tannin, and classic Anderson Valley finesse combine to create a beautifully balanced Pinot Noir that, while enjoyable in its youth, possesses impressive aging potential. Aged 11 months in French and Hungarian oak, 33% new.

2017 Shatter Grenache

100% Grenache

IGP Cotes Catalanes, France

Inky black in color. Flavors and aromas dominated by black current, spice and cured meats with a touch of coffee from low toast barrels. There’s an underlying minerality throughout with the distinct ferrous quality that schist delivers. The palate is pure and powerful, but has structure and a backbone, that holds it all together. Half of the wine was aged in 1–3 year old barrels.

2016 Folie à Deux Cabernet Sauvignon

90% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Merlot

Alexander Valley, California

The 2016 Folie à Deux Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a pure expression of its region. Concentrated aromas of juicy blackberry, cassis, and Earl Grey tea sit atop spicy oak notes. Rich, round and robust in structure, this wine showcases ripe, concentrated flavors of strawberry jam, molasses and anise notes complemented by chocolate, cherry tobacco and a hint of vanilla on the balanced finish. Pair the 2016 Folie à Deux Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with herb-crusted lamb or a juicy, seasoned burger topped with goat cheese and caramelized onions. Following a moderate fermentation temperature of 75°F, the wine was aged for 22 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak barrels, 27% of which was new, giving it a plush mouthfeel and complex layers of flavor.
