2018 Jean Perrier et Fils Savoie Blanc

100% Jacquère

Savoy, France

Showing a light, dry, alpine profile of lean fruit and high acids, the best Jacquere is grown around the cru villages of Apremont, Cruet, and Abymes. Abymes is located just about 50 miles each way from the Swiss and Italian borders, and less than 100 miles west over the Alps from Turin. Because Abymes is in the shadow of the Alps, the Perrier family takes special care to extract the most flavor from the cool-weather fruit by doing a long fermentation and steel-aging on the lees. The wines are youthful and brisk but offer enough complexity to keep things interesting. Medium-bodied, dry. A zingy, fresh, expressive Savoie showing citrus, blossoms, and almonds. Finishes with mineral and herb notes. Pair with fondue and raclette, but also works with chicken and fish.

2018 Jean Marc Brocard Kimméridgien Chardonnay

100% Chardonnay

Bourgogne, France

Pure soil of Chablis, Kimmeridgian is alternate layers of very compact limestone, and softer clayey marls containing marine fossilized bodies (exogyra virgula). Jean-Marc Brocard created this Geologic Chardonnay Collection to allow every soil to reveal its personality and its authenticity through Chardonnay. Citrus notes on the nose with orange blossom. A very pure palate, with mandarin aromas which gives delicacy. A fresh wine with a very beautiful mineral energy.

2016 Burgo Viejo Crianza

90% Tempranillo & 10% Graciano

Rioja, Spain

The Burgo Viejo Rioja Crianza begins with an inviting aroma of black cherry, lots of oak (in the form of vanilla, cedar, chocolate and more) and baking spice notes. Taking a sip reveals tons of vanilla and oaky spice interlaced with lots of juicy, ripe dark fruit. This is a silky smooth, medium-bodied wine with good acidity. Cocoa and coffee notes come out mid-palate and lead into the long-lasting, dry finish featuring lingering oaky spice notes and dark raisiny fruit. This is really tasty, flavorful stuff with tons of good old American oak!

2018 Zorzal Terroir Unico Malbec

100% Malbec

Tupungato, Argentina

Full ruby-red. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, menthol, chocolate and herbs. Round and spicy, showing more sweetness and depth than the Terroir Unico Pinot Noir. The wine's blackberry fruit is framed by integrated acidity and complicated by a suggestion of saline minerality. Finishes with gentle tannins and lovely length. Good sneaky flavor intensity here. (includes fruit from four growers, but 50% of this wine comes from Tupungato Winelands in Gualtallary, which the Michelini brothers rent and control; made mostly with destemmed grapes, and without any contact with oak)
